Chief Minister should understand that he has no locus standi.

I am afraid that the unnecessary boastful conduct of the Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh and his excessive sycophancy by the DGP Dinkar Gupta, might prove a blessing in disguise for all the alleged criminals, booked by the police as perpetrators of the heinous crime that resulted in an unprecedented hooch tragedy in Punjab.

Irresponsible statements of the Chief Minister and the DGP, claiming that the police has enhanced the severity of punitive action under IPC by adding section 302 IPC, to all the FIRs registered in the case of hooch tragedy, under the orders of the Chief Minister.I

Ironically, Chief Minister himself is boasting the same in the full glare of the media that he has ordered to append the murder charge to all FIRs to intensify the gravity of the crime that resulted in a horrendous hooch in Punjab.

Chief MinisterSuch irresponsible statements by the Chief Minister, which are available on record, are certainly going to benefit the alleged criminals, when the cases are brought for judicial scrutiny in the court of law, because the alleged criminals would plead and take advantage in the courts that all the charges against them have been framed under the political pressure of the Chief Minister.

When a SIT (Special Investigation Team) has been constituted Under the DIG of Ferozepur Range, Hardayal Singh Mann to investigate the matter, then why the Chief Minister is making unnecessary public statements claiming that he has ordered to add Section 302 of IPC, to other sections of the IPC (Indian Penal Code) under which the crime has been codified in the FIRs, registered in various police stations.

Chief Minister should understand that he has no locus standi under the Criminal Procedure Code and law of the land to interfere in the matter of investigations, at any stage, when a crime is being investigated by a SIT or for that matter by an IO.

The unnecessary chest thumping by the Chief Minister does not absolve him of the moral responsibility for the unnatural death of more than 123 innocent people of the State.

Who does not know that the gangs of heinous criminals were incubating in a suitable environment for more than three year under his regime and assumed dangerous proportions under the active political patronage of his own courtiers, MLAs and Ministers?

Therefore I would suggest the Chief Minister, not to indulge in overplayed theatrics as a ‘Super Thanedar’ of Punjab. Let the investigators, investigate the crime independently and please also refrain teaching them lessons of IPC, you better divert your attention to the Governance, which is on the backburner ever since you assumed office in Punjab.
